Hazardous Materialsx

EI Australia’s CLM team has the capability to conduct Hazardous Materials (HAZ-MAT) Audits involving inspections prior to building demolition, to enable appropriate isolation and management of the materials, in order to prevent spreading and widespread exposure during construction works. Examples of HAZ-MAT services we regularly provide are as below:

  • Identifying the location, type and condition of asbestos or Asbestos Containing Materials (ACMs), including by taking samples;
  • Assessing the risk resulting from the identified asbestos or ACMs;
  • Advising on how the asbestos or ACM should be managed;
  • Reporting about the work mentioned in all of the above;
  • Clearance inspection and issuing clearance certificates for asbestos removal works
  • Air quality monitoring during asbestos removal work;
  • HAZ-MAT Inspection (ACM, ODS, PCB, SMF, Pb, electrical transformer oils); and
  • Naturally Occurring Asbestos (NOA) Management

Risk Mitigation & HAZ-MAT Management Planning

EI Australia is able to develop HAZ-MAT management measures to mitigate the risks associated with the disturbance of hazardous materials identified during the HAZ-MAT audit process. Risk mitigation measures are detailed in the form of HAZ-MAT Management Plans, which may include site worker training, environmental monitoring and contractor guidance for the implementation of a site-specific Remedial Action Plan (RAP).

Asbestos in Soil

EI Australia has a thorough understanding of the National Environmental Protection (Assessment of Site Contamination) Measure (Australia’s national standard for assessing contaminated sites), which adopts the Western Australian guidelines for the assessment, remediation and management of asbestos-contaminated sites. We also have over 25 years of wide-ranging project experience in older urban industrial areas in Sydney and other Australian cities and rural townships, that allow EI Australia to be able to conduct soil asbestos assessments and develop remedial action plans to enable the effective management of asbestos-impacted land.

EI Australia’s CLM team is highly experienced in delivering comprehensive environmental services for a wide range of private industry and government clients.
